The Great Illuminary is the centre of the magic realm called Lorcana, and you have been summoned by Illumineers, magic ink-wielding beings, to help save the realm. You have been gifted with a powerful imagination which allows you to create characters using ‘ink’.
Published by Ravensburger, Disney Lorcana takes inspiration from Magic: The Gathering and other similar card game systems to create a unique take on duelling games where the objective is to send heroes on ‘quests’ and collect 20 ‘lore’. Ursula’s Return: In the latest Lorcana set, a dark storm has been brewing in the realm of Lorcana. Ursula from The Little Mermaid features as the main villain of the set and has been unleashed. Ursula - Sea Witch Queen is the chase card of the set and can be placed on top of other card names, ‘Ursula’, for a reduced ink cost. Mulan, Mickey, and, of course, Ariel all make appearances in the latest set. If you’re looking to start your Loranca journey here, the starter decks are a great place to begin, with 2 options to choose from: Anna & Hercules or Mirabel & Bruno. Into The Inklands: The Inklands are the surrounding, uncharted lands surrounding the Great Illuminary. They are made up of recreations of famous places throughout Disney's history. A flood has washed away lore into the Inklands, and the Illumineers must journey there to recover it. The set features the new ‘Location’ card type, beloved places from the most popular Disney animated movies, each representing areas of the Inklands. Enchanted foils make a return, but the most precious of all is Ursula: Deceiver of All. Starter Decks: Each Disney Lorcan starter deck contains a 60 card preconstructed deck ready to play at the kitchen table. Each focuses on a pair of characters from the Disney Animated universe, each with their colour of ‘ink’. Each type of ink has a distinct playstyle, so pick the deck with your colours if you already know how you like to play. If you’re still figuring out what sort of decks you enjoy, then stick with the ‘rule of cool’: the coolest looking deck is the right deck to pick!
Boosters: One of the most fun ways to expand your collection of Lorcana cards is from booster packs. Each booster contains 12 randomised cards, each with a chance of hitting one of the most valuable cards in the set, like an Enchanted Foil rare. If you’d rather build your deck, booster packs are ideal!
