Step into the early days of the Industrial Revolution and build a manufacturing empire in Arkwright, a deep economic strategy game set in 18th-century England.
Players take on the roles of entrepreneurs managing up to four factories producing goods such as cloth, cutlery, lamps and bread. Success depends on carefully balancing production, workers, machinery, pricing and demand while competing for market share against rival manufacturers.
Hiring workers increases demand for your products, but wages can be expensive, encouraging investment in machinery and technological improvements. Players must decide when to expand their factories, improve quality, adjust prices and enter new markets while keeping a close eye on their company's finances.
Ultimately, victory is determined by the value of your company's shares and the wealth you have accumulated. Poor financial management can be disastrous, however, as ending the game in debt results in an automatic loss.
This Anniversary Edition streamlines and updates the original game with revised rules and artwork, additional modules including Spinning Mule, Waterframe and East India, and an Automa solo mode.
