In Danelag, you take command of the relentless Danes, a faction that acknowledges no Christian laws and writes no Chronicles – they shape history with steel and fire. Their power grows through Burghs, raids, and the downfall of Anglo-Saxon rulers.

Every Season brings new threats, and every conquest fuels their claim to supremacy. Can the Anglo-Saxons withstand the storm from the sea, or will Britain fall to the Great Heathen Army?

Danelag is an expansion for Bretwalda, set 70 years after the events of the base game. It introduces the Danes as a fully playable faction. Unlike the Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms, the Danes do not gain Dalcs from Abbeys or Chronicles. Instead, they thrive by building Burghs, raiding, and slaying enemy Rulers.

The Danes bring their own Kingdom board, tiles, and 28 unique Lordship cards, along with new Units – Rulers, Jarls, Settlers, Drakkars, and (as Gamefound exclusives) Berserkers. New Season and Chronicle cards reflect their constant presence, while the innovative Bond cards tie defeated Anglo-Saxon rulers into reluctant service under Danish rule. With Danelag, Bretwalda can now be played by up to 5 players, though smaller counts are also supported.
