Travel across medieval Europe and work your way from humble barber to respected physician in Medico, a strategy game from designer Stefan Feld.
Players take on the roles of travelling barbers, journeying between cities and monasteries in search of the knowledge, tools and reputation needed to earn the prestigious title of Medicus.
At the beginning of each round, players secretly choose one of seven destinations. Reaching your chosen location allows you to perform its main action, while carefully planned routes can also unlock additional actions at waypoints along the journey.
Collect rare remedies to sell at markets, deliver letters on behalf of the Church, search monastery libraries for healing recipes and acquire valuable medical instruments. You can also train apprentices, gain the favour of influential city leaders and perhaps even receive instruction from the famous Medicus himself.
With only eight or nine rounds available depending on the number of players, every journey matters. At the end of the game, points are awarded across several areas including recipes, instruments, apprentices and other achievements.
