In the wake of turmoil and chaos, the Empire is seeking a new beginning and Salzenmund appears to be the city that could provide just that. The city's riches are plentiful, thanks to the nearby Silver Hills that are rich in precious metals, and the trade that flows in from the Sea of Claws to the north. Salzenmund is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city where the cults of Sigmar, Manann, and Ulric coexist relatively harmoniously.

For those who seek adventure and excitement, Salzenmund promises to deliver. Explorers depart from the city to trade with the fur-clad Norscans or venture out into the vast sea towards Lustria. However, the newly installed and ambitious ruling family, the Gausser family, poses a threat to the stability of the Empire. The head of the family speaks of a reconquest of the Wasteland and defiance against their former masters in Middenheim. In the taverns by the docks, nefarious individuals plot smuggling and piracy.
